YenNing Chen is a Creative Designer based in New York City.
Hi, my name is Yenning Chen. I go by Annie, and I’m from Taiwan. I have a bachelor's degree in fine arts, but I’ve always been passionate about fashion, and I want to build a career in the fashion industry. I had one year of experience working as an assistant designer at a women's clothing company in Taiwan. I learned about design processes, fabric selection, and trend research in that job. Now, I am a 3rd year student at FIT, majoring in Fashion Design with a concentration in Special Occasions.
My goal is to help people express their unique personalities and beauty through the garments they wear. My fine art education has helped my fashion design by training my skills in creativity and composition. For example, studying color theory in painting helped me choose color palettes that can evoke specific emotions in my collections. I also draw inspiration from art history, like using elements from Impressionism to create fluid, organic shapes in my garments. This fusion of fine art and fashion allows me to approach design with a unique perspective, blending artistic techniques into my work.
